Most people assume that if a food product is sitting on a grocery store shelf, it must be safe — after all, hasn’t the FDA approved it?
That’s what the average American thinks.
Here’s the reality: there are about 10,000 food additives currently used in our food supply. Of those, only about half have ever been reviewed or approved by the FDA. Many were simply allowed in because the food manufacturers themselves deemed them safe.
Yes… that’s a bit of a conflict of interest.
To put it into perspective, the average American consumes between 5–9 pounds of food additives every single year. Pounds. Not grams.
And if food products were honestly labeled, boxes might look more like this:
- Chemical Helper
- Heart Disease Spread
- Zero Nutrition Puffs
- Sure-Fire Diabetes Drink
- ADHD Flakes
Sounds dramatic — but it’s not far from the truth.
What surprises me most is that even my clients — smart, savvy, health-conscious folks — often miss what’s hiding in plain sight. Most people stop at the Nutrition Facts panel.
Calories. Fat. Protein. Sugar.
Check. Done.
But here’s the thing: the ingredient list matters just as much — if not more.
That’s where the real story lives.
In my latest video, I walk through how to actually read food labels, what most people overlook, and why understanding both labels is critical for your hormones, metabolism, brain health, and long-term wellbeing.
This isn’t about fear.
It’s about awareness.
And once you see it… you can’t unsee it.
