There are a lot of reasons why the adage of “eat less, move more” doesn’t work and here’s one of them.
Two meals with the same number of calories can create very different insulin and glucose responses. The top breakfast spikes glucose, which causes a large amount of insulin to come marching out to escort the mega amounts of glucose into our fat or liver cells or both.
If you’re restricting calories but having blood sugar spikes all day long, your insulin levels will be elevated. Insulin is a FAT STORING hormone so if it’s high most of the time, it’s going to be really hard to lose weight.
Calories are not created equal!
Reason #2: Your thyroid isn’t working right, which can be for a variety of reasons.
Reason #3: You’re over exercising, raising inflammation and cortisol levels.
Reason #4: Your hormones are out of whack. Too little of this and too much of that.
Reason #5: You’re moving through perimenopause or in menopause, or for men, andropause (losing testosterone).
Are you having a hard time losing weight and you’re watching what you eat and moving a decent amount? Maybe it’s time to explore this a little further.
