What Happens In The Bedroom…

The wife of one of my clients cornered me at the yoga studio to tell me that whatever I was having her husband do was working! He won’t leave her alone in the bedroom! She wants to sleep and he has other ideas! I’ll take this as a win, a success and a testimonial! 

Did you know that what goes on in the bedroom is a super good indicator of your overall health? Well, it is. And that includes quality of sleep, the number of times you have to get up to visit the bathroom and yes, that other thing too. 

Inflammation is the driver of all disease and shows up symptomatically, in different ways, in different men and in the bedroom.

It shows up as HPB, anxiety, an enlarged prostate, multiple trips to the bathroom, difficulty sleeping, muscle loss, sleep apnea, no sex drive and/or ED. 
 
You may have noticed that this pretty much sums up what the average male experiences over the age of 55. And this is all considered ‘normal’ and part of the aging process. At least that’s what your doctor will most likely tell you.

Unfortunately, your doctor’s answer will not solve the problem. And the problem(s) will get worse over time. You’ll find yourself on more medications as the years go by.

So how do you get around this? How do you stop and turn things around? Well, first, you need to find a practitioner who can help you understand the drivers behind your symptoms, guide you to make the necessary changes, support you every step of the way, and show you how to become your own advocate within our current medical system.

In my opinion, the best place to start is with comprehensive blood work which goes well beyond what is tested at your typical annual check-up. Comprehensive blood work along with a thorough evaluation, your history, how you’re feeling right now and then having a proactive plan is crucial.

The call from your doctor’s office telling you that everything looks normal because you fall within the normal ranges or the 15 minute office visit, just long enough to write a prescription is not very comforting and doesn’t work. Just take a look around us. Does it look like it’s working?
