HORMONES! Can’t live with them and can’t live without them…🌸

💁‍♀️ True story-yes!?!

During our fertile years, so many women suffer from painful and heavy periods, PMS, migraines, etc. Many women wish they didn’t have hormones or a cycle every month.

We take birth control pills to ‘balance’ our hormones (which is actually shutting the production down and not balancing them at all).

We can’t wait until we no longer have a monthly bleed and we can stop all this nonsense! Right?

AND then we cross the finish line somewhere between the age of 45 and 55 into MENOPAUSE, and all hell breaks loose in a different way because we don’t have those pesky hormones being made, circulating, or protecting us anymore.

Let’s talk about why it’s unpleasant to live without these hormones, which is what most women do for about ⅓ of their lives.

Both Estrogen (estradiol) and Progesterone (not progestin):

  • Make us feel and act better! 💃
  • Are anti-inflammatory
  • Help with bone health.
  • Are neuroprotective-protecting the brain.

They help us with joint and ligament tissue-estrogen more so, but progesterone is still a part of this dynamic.

Progesterone:

  • Is calming
  • Relaxes us
  • Helps us sleep 😴
  • Helps with blood pressure regulation

Worried that taking either of these will cause cancer? I get it, it’s a narrative that’s been around since 2003 and even though that narrative has changed in the last 21 years, there are still TOO MANY doctors who have not kept up with the new literature and recommendations, even Functional Medicine doctors.

Out of frustration with what I see women going through all too often, I’ve created a video called Pulling The Curtain Back On Hormone Replacement to help educate women on why there’s so much controversy on HRT and how to better navigate the world of perimenopause and menopause.
