If you’re still sautéing kale with the same nonstick skillet you bought when you moved into your first apartment, I have some news for you: It’s time to invest in new cookware. Seriously!
Did you know that your old, scratched-up pots and pans could be leeching toxic chemicals into your otherwise impeccable dinners? Yikes is right.
Most non-stick cookware contain nasty chemicals often referred to as PFOA’s to create a surface that minimizes the need for oil and maximizes ease of clean-up. These chemicals hang around forever, leeching into our soil and water and showing up in over 90% of us, even brand new babies. L
Good news! There’s plenty of cooking materials that are just as nonstick as Teflon without being harmful to your health and you don’t have to spend a fortune to get them.
- Ceramic is nonstick, scratch-resistant and very easy to clean. I like Green Pan- good quality, not too pricey and they come in pretty colors!
- Cast iron will last for years when treated well (like don’t wash it!), is extremely versatile and retains heat like nobody’s business and gives you a boost of iron.
- Stainless steel, which is notnonstick but is durable, widely available and often relatively inexpensive.
You’ll find my Amazon links to purchase the stainless steel and ceramic pans in the bolded words above. I do receive a small commission when purchase them through my links. Thank you for supporting me while you do something good for yourself , your family, and the environment!
